One of the biggest reasons that so many men and women snore is because of being overweight. Sadly, this is a serious problem that reaches all around the world.
Much of the reason for obesity problems in many families is a lack of physical exercise and the sedentary lifestyle that many people lead. When a person starts to add on extra pounds, it is not uncommon for them to start noticing problems with snoring.
There are also quite a few other reasons why a person may struggle with an excess amount of weight. Some of these reasons are as follows:
- The wide effect of weight gain that is often caused by certain medicines
- Being pregnant
- Binge eating which can lead to an increased amount of weight gain
- An assortment of junk food items being regularly included in a person’s diet
- Induced post natal weight gain
- Increased levels of stress that can lead to various types of psychological disorders
- The excessive consumption of sodas and other sugary drinks
People that have problems with gaining weight in their thigh area, in the stomach, or other specific area often believe the fatty tissue is isolated to that particular area. This however is not true.
When a person gains weight, fatty tissue disperses all over the body, including the tissue located within the throat. When this occurs it will often cause the airway passages to narrow, which will frequently cause the person to then begin having snoring problems.
Not only is fatty tissue added to all areas of the body when a person gains weight, but they also lose tone that was once found in their muscles. This is a contributing factor to snoring as well.
This is because muscles and tissue that is located in the jaw area and in the throat that become loosen are much more likely to block the air passages when a person is asleep.
This obstruction interrupts the normal pattern of breathing and results in snoring. It is caused from the flow of air pressure that is pushed through the airways that are narrow or constricted. As a result this causes the throat’s soft tissue to vibrate and make the snoring noise.
