There are numerous men and women that deal with the problems of snoring every single night. What a lot of people are not aware is there are actually quite a few different causes for this irritating problem.

As a person begins to fall into a deep sleep, the soft palate or muscles that are found in the roof of a person’s mouth, the throat, and the tongue will also begin to relax.
As a result, the throat’s tissues begin to vibrate because they are so relaxed and a partial obstruction of the person’s airways can occur. As these airways become narrower, the airflow will become much more forceful. The vibration of the tissue increases, which often results in problems of loud snoring.
Most Common Conditions that Lead to Snoring
Problems with the nasal passages – A few examples are when a person has a partition that is crooked, which is otherwise known as a deviated nasal septum or they suffer from nasal congestion. Each of these problems will often result in an excess amount of snoring.
The anatomy of a person’s mouth – There are several different issues with the mouth anatomy that can result in snoring.
To list some of these would include the following:
- Tonsils that are enlarged
- When a person has a palate that is soft, thick, and low
- When a person’s uvula is extended past its normal size. This is the tissue that is shaped like a triangle that suspends from the soft palate
- In some cases, a person’s adenoids that are located in the back part of the throat can constrict the airways
- When a person is overweight – When a person is overweight the excess weight can also build up within the area of the throat. This will also play a role in the airways becoming narrower, and will frequently cause the person to snore.
